How Many Domains Do You Need for Cold Email Outreach

The number of domains you need depends on your target sending volume. Here is how to calculate it.

The formula

Total daily email volume ÷ 75 (safe sends per domain per day) = minimum number of domains needed. So if your target is 300 emails per day, you need at least 4 domains. If your target is 1,000 emails per day, you need at least 14 domains.

Why this formula works

Each domain should have two to three email accounts. Each account should send 25 to 35 cold emails per day. This gives each domain a total capacity of approximately 60 to 100 cold emails per day. Using 75 as the midpoint keeps you within safe limits.

Adding buffer

In practice, add 20 to 30 percent more domains than the minimum calculation suggests. This buffer accounts for accounts that need to pause for maintenance, domains that need rest periods, and the normal variability of daily sending.
