How to Test Email Deliverability Before Launching a Campaign
Never launch a campaign without testing deliverability first. Here is the pre-launch testing protocol.
Never launch a campaign without testing deliverability first. Here is the pre-launch testing protocol. Step 1: Authentication verification Run your domain through the SPF Checker, DMARC Checker, and DNS Checker. All authentication must be passing before any campaign launch. Step 2: Blacklist check Run your domain through the blacklist checker. If listed on any blacklist, resolve the listing before launching. Step 3: Seed test Send your actual campaign email (the exact copy you will use) from each sending account to seed addresses at Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo. Use the deliverability checker. Check inbox placement at each provider. Step 4: Content scan Review your email copy for spam trigger words, excessive links, or formatting that might trigger filters. Send a test to yourself and read it on both desktop and mobile. Step 5: List quality verification Confirm your prospect list has been verified within the last 30 days. Check for role-based addresses, catch-all addresses, and duplicates. Step 6: Volume check Confirm that the campaign volume, combined with warmup volume, does not exceed safe daily limits per account. Step 7: Suppression list check Cross-reference the prospect list against your master suppression list. Remove anyone who has bounced, unsubscribed, or complained in previous campaigns. Only after all seven steps pass should you activate the campaign. This pre-launch protocol takes 15 to 20 minutes and prevents problems that take weeks to recover from.
