What technographic data reveals

The software, tools, and platforms a company uses. This tells you about their technical maturity, budget for technology, integration requirements, and potential pain points with their current stack.

Sources of technographic data

BuiltWith: Tracks website technologies. Wappalyzer: Browser extension that identifies technologies on any website. HG Insights: Enterprise-grade technographic data. StackShare: Company technology stacks. Job postings: Companies reveal their stack in technical job postings.

How to use technographic data in cold email

If you sell a product that integrates with or replaces a specific technology, target companies using that technology. Replacement play: "{{firstName}}, I noticed {{company}} is using {{current_tool}}. Many teams at your stage find that {{specific_limitation}} starts becoming a bottleneck around {{trigger_point}}. We built {{product}} specifically to solve this — {{similar_company}} switched and saw {{result}}." Integration play: "{{firstName}}, {{company}} is running {{tool_A}} and {{tool_B}} — that's a stack we integrate with natively. Our customers using the same setup typically see {{specific_benefit}} from the integration."

The competitive intelligence angle

Technographic data also reveals which competitors your prospect is using. This enables competitive displacement campaigns (see Article 308) with precise targeting.
