Cold email can pitch journalists and editors for media coverage.

The media pitch email

"{{firstName}}, I'm reaching out about a story I think would resonate with {{publication}}'s audience. {{Your_company}} has {{newsworthy_angle}} — specifically, {{the_specific_story}}. This is relevant to your readers because {{relevance_to_their_audience}}. I can provide {{data/interviews/exclusive_access}}. Would this be of interest? Happy to provide more details or jump on a quick call."

Media outreach best practices

Journalists are extremely busy and heavily pitched. Your email must be concise (under 100 words), newsworthy (not a product announcement — a story), and relevant to their specific beat. Personalize to the journalist's coverage. Reference recent articles they have written on related topics. This shows you understand their beat and are not mass-blasting. Offer exclusivity or unique data. Journalists value exclusive angles and original data that their competitors cannot access. Timing matters. Do not pitch on major news days when your story will be drowned out. Tuesday through Thursday mornings are generally the best window for media pitches.
